Well it's time to sort out the unnecessary 'stuff', cupboard by cupboard. I was going to hit the main china and crocks but G got in first with the well deck drawers - mostly being outdoor gear; small clothing and boat cleaning/polishing stuff. So what have we got in this heap then?
We have ten scarves
Eighteen hats
and eighteen pairs of gloves plus two singles and two more pairs of good sailing gloves that I can't find at the moment
So which are my star performers? The first has to be my lovely hat made by Karen's (NB Tacet) own fair hand - there are a very few privileged lady boaters that own one of these
The gloves award goes to the softest of leather with padded palms fingerless gloves purchased for £5 in Camden Market. The best ever locking/roping gloves
The scarf award has to go to my Alpaca; short, open weave, but utterly brilliantly soft and warm - obtainable from the brilliant people at Whilton Marina on the GU who have their own herd
How much did we keep? That's for us to know and you to wonder
Oh no! I've been trying to persuade Amy to reduce her number of hats and scarves, but she just said "I've got less than them, so I'm OK". Drat!
ReplyDeleteBut Amy may not have less than us now that we've had a clear out James!
DeleteDon't tell me you filled those skips yourselves... That's quite a sort-out!
ReplyDeleteNo, but I wish we had - we might have considerably more space
DeleteSorry Jill, that was me being anonymous and forgetting to sign off!
DeletePleased it wasn't all your stuff!
Cheers
Alistair
Very glad you added that Alistair - I nearly didn't publish it because it came up as anonymous.
DeleteYou get some funny people on the system sometimes - not that I'm suggesting your funny (well, not funny peculiar anyway)!
I'll bet you kept nearly all of it! xxx
ReplyDeleteActually Pip, I was extremely strong - only trouble is we're not in reach of a charity shop and the bag of discards is sitting here tempting me to retrieve an item (or two!).
DeletePersonally I like Amy's thinking - that's how we decide whether we've got too many greyhounds - as long as have fewer than Greygal we're ok - see, the formula works perfectly :-D
ReplyDeleteSue, nb Indigo Dream
A slight flaw in your thinking here Sue - less than Greygal means up to eight. I'm not spotting brakes or self control in this quantity. That's good though; lots of new forever homes.
DeleteIn support of Graham I have to say that there seems to be far more SHE stuff in those piles than HE stuff... LOL
ReplyDeleteI'd also take down that photo of the skips if I were you, before Biffa send you a bill for emptying the bins... ROFLMAO
Well spotted Kevin. However (you knew that word was coming didn't you?), the reason there is so much 'she' stuff is because peoples don't know what to give me for xmas ..... now, if we were to do a similar excercise on socks and aftershave .....
DeleteAftershave? For Graham? Is that a hint? Are beards not in fashion in France? :-D
ReplyDeleteSue, nb IndigoDream
Just because G has had a beard for at least 20 odd years doesn't stop people buying him after shave. Mind you, my Mum bought some Ruby wedding cups and saucers for friend of mine one Xmas - not had they only been together for about 3 years; they weren't married! I feel a blog coming on re inappropriate presents. Not that my hats, gloves and scarves are inappropriate; I'm just trying to duck responsibility for a collector habit.
