Beefur throws her weight about again!

A few ice crystals spotted for the first time this year as we travelled on Friday (yes I'm back on current time). We moved onto Napton and moored before the bottom lock. The pound between 15 and 14 was in dire straits waterwise.
Beefur moored below lock 14
and this was our side hatch view for the afternoon - we woke to an iced up canal and Beefur locked down to nearer the water points. There were a lot of boat movements; perhaps we were all panicking at the first signs of ice after the traumas of last year
and then there was the dilemma of somewhere to moor. BW has left their ' vessels' all over the place on the 48 hour and visitor moorings. They didn't even have the decency to moor together and, in fact, took up moorings for 4 boats. We tried to shove one up so that we could get Beefur in between the two.
Another case of Delaney's donkey..pushing it and shushing it
You don't need this hassle and they promised they wouldn't do it!
View to the front of Beefur-bow inside the barge
View to the stern of Beefur - a veritable Beefur sandwich
G and I decided to get up close and personal with the Napton icon and found this lovely  Rowan tree and memorial bench

Quite a view from the top

and then we slithered our way back down the hill to the towath

These fields were full of England's native ponies
Met up with Sue and Dave for a meal in the evening at the Folly - it's absolutely fabulous under the new management

  2. Kath, the atmosphere in there now is wonderful; we had to move on today for the sake of our livers! Beefur is still there, they are made of stronger stuff

  3. I do hope they get the spelling and grammar right when they get the proper one made.
