Tea at the palace and a royal mouse catchers warrant for Daisy Cat

Having left the Tideway at Teddington on Saturday we'd continued on to Hampton Court Palace but it was late and there were no moorings so we'd returned to Kingston and then Teddington. Today we resumed our cruise and moored outside the Palace before popping round for cream teas and an exploration of the grounds.
I haven't had a cream tea in, probably, 20 years and this one came with a mug of tea - times have changed: the only thing that should go in a mug is a pint (or is that a jug?). There weren't any cucumber sandwiches either - with or without the crusts off - it seems thing are sliding; even at the Palace.
It was, actually, delicious and reasonably priced for where we were.

When we left in the morning I tried to beat the trip boat to the bridge 'ole when I saw it loading
No chance - but they did all wave as they kicked spray in my face
Quite a bit of small stuff to be avoided too

Time for a paddle before leaving them to snooze - I forgot to take their buoyancy jackets off after cruising - They're not that wussie

You moor just below these gates

After tea and a walk in the gardens I persuaded himself to go and have a look around Bushy Park
 I'm so glad we did

Off with their heads - oh, wrong building but they did look like they were trying to escape

Daisy wasn't totally impressed that we were moored about half way down the concrete moorings so had a very busy day stalking passed all the moored boats to the bushes at the end .. and back with a mouse.... and back to the bushes at the end .. and back with a mouse... and back to.... I suspect one or two crews on the big shiny ocean going stuff may have been a bit put off of their champagne and caviar! Royal Warrant mouse catcher has been awarded for services to the Palace.

    1. Palace mice are much bigger than the norm - she's now on sick leave so not in a position to discuss pension plans

    2. Are you "sailing" across or having MR shipped? Its something we have been thinking about and though we are sailors and have crossed the channel many times in a yacht we are not sure about taking a narrow boat across!

    3. We shall be shipping her across - rough cost of crane in, transport across, crane out, is 2.5K. Cost of converting canal vessel to seaworthy, hire of skippers; hire of support vessels: best guess 10k - then ther's waiting for the right weather with mooring costs of staying in one spot.
I'm all for life on the open waves - but NOT in a narra
