Message to Floyd

  • It is not a canoe it is a kayak
  • it is not a diving platform for Floyd
  • whilst Baxter is perfectly happy for Floyd to try it out, he's not to do it whilst Baxter is on it
  • he most certainly doesn't try it out whilst Jill is on it
  • if Floyd falls in, it is not down to Jill to oik him out
  • if Floyd dumps his Mum in the water it is down to Joe to oik her out
  • the picnic on the back does not belong to Floyd
  • Floyd is perfectly entitled to take a rope and tow Jill and Baxter
  • Floyd is not entitled to tow Jill and Baxter over weirs
I'm so excited - it's being delivered to Kevin's (WB Avalon) tomorrow and he will bring it to Ely on Tuesday. Should I paddle it back to St Ives?

  1. Er, Jill, I know it's very important to put everything in writing these days but can Floyd actually read? :-)

  2. Shush - we try not to mention that Floyd is a special needs dog! It's not something we talk about. I'm just hoping Lesley will explain it all to him as I am concerned about such a big litigious society and such a small pension.

  4. Well Adam, I think the words 'cap' and 'fit' come into play here

  5. You are right about the weather, I have been windsurfing in January on Hickling Broad and sweating.
    P.S. I want one

    1. The 'sweating' was probably due to the 8ft waves on Hickling Brorad - or the particularly aggressive swans
I do sharing - see you on the way back

    1. Message from 'elf and safety Kevin
Risk assessment completed - chances of Kevin leaving the country on a Kayak <0.000001%
      Risk acceptable

  7. I wouldn't mention the PICNIC BASKET to Floyd if I were you...that might be a step too far.
I will gently break the news to Floyd that his kayaking adventures are to be limited, and lonely, given that no one else will be involved in his excursions it seems!

    1. Are you telling me that you aren't prepared to share a kayak with Floyd? No wonder the poor boy has confidence issues

    2. Are you deluded? Floyd with confidence issues; I think not. No Jill, it is YOUR kayak so who am I to deprive you of the pleasure? You can take the boy out, just make sure that the picnic basket is well secured and well stocked and he will be quite content and quite still.. well still..ish

    3. Let's just pray that his approach to kayaking is a damn sight more competent than his approach to styles then. Heaven help me and all who sail in her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I could just throw the picnic basket onto the bank and do a runner (or should that be a rower?)

    4. I am now the proud owner of a bright orange Kayak.

    5. It's not meant to be orange - it's meant to be blue - I hate orange. Bright orange means Floyd might be able to find me
